Another Biopsy... and a Update

Merry Christmas! As we begin this Christmas season, we hope you and all your loved ones had a Merry Christmas, but also, keep the Christmas spirit alive in this season.

Elisa had a biopsy last week for her nasal passage, and one of the lymph nodes on the left side of her face. This biopsy was done for a couple reasons:

1) The Pet scan she had some time ago did show potential cancer

2) There is a chance this could be a different form of cancer in her body, it could be an infection (she did have the pneumonia), or perhaps it could be something like a fungus. All of her cancer is on the right side of her body. This particular reading is on the LEFT side. While it is rare for lung cancer to travel to the nasal part of the body, it is more rare to have a second cancer there. The ENT doctor is doing his due diligence in checking Elisa to make sure we catch everything, and that there are no further cancer surprises.

The latest biopsy showed nothing! Now ordinarily, this would be a great thing! Nope, not the case. It not only showed up on the PET scan, but also a CAT scan. This wise doctor won't accept an "all clear" for her nasal passage. Elisa has too much going on and he wants to ensure there are no further areas of concern. So on January 22, Elisa will go for a bit of a more invasive biopsy to attempt to get a sample.

Elisa and I had almost hoped it was an extension of the lung cancer, just so she wouldn't have to go back in for this minor surgery. This is because the immunotherapy would impact of any cancer in the nasal cavity.

We're also expecting Elisa to start her immunotherapy around mid January.

Elisa is doing okay, not great, but not horrible either. Her spirit is hopeful, while her body is in pain. Many days she does have to relax a majority of the day. Her pain in her pelvis is much better, but she is experiencing is in her ribs. She is having a doubl

e dose of radiation today, her last dose on her pelvis, and a one time shot for her ribs and spine.

We continue to receive meals from very kind people, and great support from our Church, home schooling, and work communities. We are beyond grateful for all the assistance!
